Aftercare for gel nails

Your appointment at the salon begins with a consultation to discuss the needs of your nails so we can customize your manicure with the best products and techniques to suit your lifestyle.

Gel manicures are instantly dry and will last on average 2-3 weeks before needing to be removed or infilled.  Victoria will offer to rebook you another appointment for in a few weeks time.

Here are our top five tips for keeping your new gel manicure looking perfect between appointments:

• Avoid prolonged exposure to heat and water for the first 24hrs after having a fresh or infilled set of gel nails done at the salon.
• Apply cuticle oil daily and push back those cuticles when they are soft and pliable after a shower.  Ask to take a bottle of our cuticle oil home at the end of your appointment.
• Never pick at or peel gel nails off.  It takes 4-6  months to grow out a new nail.  Weak thin damaged nails will not be a strong foundation for future gel manicures and will result in your salon enhancements lasting less and less longer each time.
• Wear gloves when cleaning and when out in the garden.  Use a soft toothbrush and handsoap to clean under your nails after being in potting mix or dirt.
